Scores of frozen embryos due to be destroyed in July next year have been reprieved following a review by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority of present practice. New regulations will mean that embryos can now be stored for 10 years or longer, in exceptional circumstances, rather than the present five-year limit.
