Sir George Gardiner, the Euro-sceptic Tory MP for Reigate, confirmed yesterday that he is facing a renewed threat to unseat him before the election by his constituency over alleged disloyalty to John Major.
Attempts to unseat Sir George, 61, failed last June. The anti-Gardiner camp threatened to move against him again after he wrote an article in the Sunday Express accusing Mr Major of "abject surrender" to Michael Heseltine and Kenneth Clarke on the European single currency. Colin Brown
