Farmworkers could take industrial action over their claim for a pay rise of at least 8 per cent.
Negotiators from the Transport and General Workers' Union meet employers tomorrow to seek a minimum wage of pounds 4.15, compared with the current pounds 3.83. They claim that farmers' income has risen by 170 per cent since 1991, while labour costs have gone up just 3 per cent.
