A DECISION to halve air safety margins to tackle the problem of congested skies could be disastrous, air experts warn. Within three years aircraft at high altitude over Europe will be separated in height by 1,000ft instead of 2,000ft. Airlines from eastern and southern Europe, which lack technology to cope with the changes, have sparked fears of increased near misses.
