Five teenagers were killed yesterday when their car crashed into a water-filled dyke at Coral Beach caravan site, Ingoldmells, Lincolnshire.
One 19-year-old was able to roll down a window and clamber to safety but his friends could not escape. Police were on the scene within four minutes and managed to extricate all five from the wreckage of the car, which had overturned in four feet of water. Despite lengthy attempts at resuscitation, however - in one case, lasting three hours - all five of the trapped boys died. Police said all the victims, aged 14 to 18, were from Leicester and had been staying with friends at the caravan park.
