In Scotland 18 people were rescued by Navy helicopter yesterday and another 14 led to safety from a forest fire in Glen Trool forest, 10 miles north of Newton Stewart, Dumfries and Galloway. The London Weather Centre said high pressure in Scotland had made the weather unusually dry.
