The Serious Fraud Office said yesterday it was involved in investigating allegations of corruption at Surrey County Council.

The investigation, being carried out by the SFO in connection with the Surrey police, concerns contracts awarded to Surrey Operational Services, a company spun off from the council to bid for contracts in competition with the private sector.
