Robert Benton, the 23-month-old boy who failed to recover from emergency surgery after he had been shunted between four West Midland hospitals in eight hours, was buried yesterday.
As West Midlands Regional Health Authority started to gather evidence from staff at all four hospitals involved, John Spellar, MP for his parents, Julie Benton and Tim Dawes, from Rowley Regis, West Midlands, called for speedy and public action. An inquest into Robert's death was opened and adjourned two days ago.
