An investigation was launched last night after an RAF jet bound for the Gulf dropped two fuel tanks on a French town, the Ministry of Defence said.

The two 250-gallon tanks fell from an RAF Harrier GR7 over Villemandeur, south of Paris, on Monday. Nobody was injured.
