Thousands of elderly people may be risking their independence and health by failing to eat properly, say experts. A study by University of Nottingham researchers found two-thirds of pensioners in urban areas did not have a healthy diet.
Elderly men living alone, people over 85 and the poor are most likely not to have a balanced diet, according to the survey of more than 800 pensioners living in their own home.
