The gymnasium at Dunblane Primary School, where 16 young children and their teacher were murdered by a gunman, is to be demolished, it was announced last night.
Stirling Council education services, which has scheduled the demolition for Wednesday, said it "does not wish the decision to be challenged". The council said it had taken advice from a wide range of professional staff including teachers at the school. Final considerations were given to the wishes of the bereaved families and those with injured children.
It was also announced yesterday that the fund set up in the wake of the massacre is to be wound up next week, after it has dispersed the pounds 150,000 raised.
