A DRUNKEN grandfather was jailed for life yesterday for hurling his three-year-old granddaughter to her death from a seventh-floor balcony.

Judge Geoffrey Grigson told 59-year-old Anthony Volney: "Yours was an act so callous as to be almost beyond belief." Volney, from Kilburn, north west London, denied murdering Sasha Davies on August 6 last year.
