A family of four could spend pounds 313.74p on sunscreen in a two-week holiday, Labour's consumer affairs spokesman, Nigel Griffiths said yesterday. He protested that because of the "high price" of these products and "confusing information" on labels, Britons were being put at risk.
"Considering the high price, it is no wonder 46 per cent of sunbathers do not use sunscreen at all," Mr Griffiths said. He said the calculation was based on market research which showed the top 25 per cent recommended sunscreens cost an average of pounds 2.49 per adult application. If sunscreen was applied three times a day over two weeks, the family would spend pounds 313.74p over two weeks.
