Magistrates fined over jailings

MAGISTRATES WERE personally fined up to pounds 3,000 after they wrongly jailed a 70-year-old woman and a young mother. Mr Justice Collins in the High Court condemned the Doncaster magistrates yesterday for sending the women to prison for failing to pay council tax arrears.
