Man remanded on nurse murder charge

A man was remanded in custody yesterday accused of murdering a nursing sister by stabbing her repeatedly in the ward where she was working.

Steven Francis McGowan, 30, of Glasgow, appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court accused of murdering Irene Duffy, 32, of Cumbernauld, at Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow, on Sunday night.
