The BBC has told staff that any expenses claim for £100 or less will be authorised by the corporation's accountants without the prior approval of a line manager.

The BBC's group financial controller, Alison Woodham, said she trusted staff and was confident the new system would work."Self authorisation is about empowering and trusting people and making this a better place to work," Ms Woodham told the BBC's in-house magazine, Ariel. She added: "Receipts will still be needed and claims will be carefully checked by [accounts] staff in Cardiff."
