Current Google Insights trends: deaths of Lina Marulanda, Edwin Valero; iPhone 4G on Gizmodo

The death of Colombian supermodel and TV presenter, Lina Marulanda, has driven her name into the top spot on Google Insights on April 26.

Marulanda reportedly fell from a six-storey high balcony to her death on April 22. The possibility of suicide has not been ruled out.

The name of Venezuelan professional boxer Edwin Valero, is trending at number two. Valero was found hung in his prison cell on April 19 after having been detained for the murder of his wife a day earlier.

Searches for the name of technology blog Gizmodo have drastically increased over the last seven days after the blog revealed they had purchased a next-generation prototype of Apple's iPhone from someone who "found" it at a bar.

Gizmodo posted detailed photos, videos and specifications of the unannounced iPhone 4G on their website, giving "Gizmodo" and "iPhone 4G" a helping hand into the list of trending topics on Google Insights in third and fifth place respectively.

The search terms with the most significant growth worldwide in the last seven days as measured by Google Insights, recorded on April 26 at 10:30 AM GMT are:

4. nfl draft 2010 (+300%)
