Back in the loop

Those waiting impatiently for the release on Friday of Armando Iannucci's satirical movie 'In the Loop' will be heartened to hear that a new series of 'The Thick of It', the programme which inspired the flick, is on the way. While 'In the Loop' crosses the Atlantic with the Minister for International Development, the television series returns to London and the wonderfully-named Department of Social Affairs and Citizenship.

Sitting on style

Anyone stranded in California and in desperate need of an Artek stool should note that Tyler Brûlé's British-based style magazine, 'Monocle', has opened a shop in Los Angeles, and is stocking these must-have pieces of furniture.

More heart

As the radio world awaits Global turning Heart FM national, can we expect more women presenters, given that Heart is clearly a female-skewed brand? If so, Ashley Tabor's Global team should look to the shortlist in the Sony DAB Awards "Rising Star" category, where Katey Wallace (currently working on community station Radio Teesdale) and the feisty Rosie Tratt of Oxford FM are among those nominated for a prize that was last year picked up by the love-him-or-hate-him BBC 6 Music presenter George Lamb. Hear the contenders and cast your vote at http://risingstar.sony.co.uk/

A regular citizen?

Interviewed on Radio 5 Live, the horse trainer Charlie Brooks explains the presence of David Cameron at the launch of his book 'Citizen' by saying "I'm one of his constituents." A nice gag. Brooks, whose bash was also attended by the Shadow Chancellor George Osborne and an array of editors from News International, only steps out with the editor of 'The Sun', Rebekah Wade.
