Oliver Duff, editor of i (centre), accepts the award for National Newspaper of the Year, alongside comedian Al Murray (L) and John Ellis, MD of manroland web systems (R)
i, the sister paper of The Independent, has been named National Newspaper of the Year at the 2015 News Awards.
The judges said: “The winner has clearly identified its market and been unswerving in catering to it. The achievement of launching a quality national in a declining market is remarkable.
"The concept of a concise, quality briefing at a great value price is obviously what a lot of readers want. Add to that great design and great photography and it’s got to be a winner.”
i100 was shortlisted for News Website of the Year and Most Innovative Use of Mobile Technology, while The Independent was shortlisted for Newspaper of the Year and the overall “Grand Prix”.
