i wins award for "innovation and creativity"

i has won the Platinum Award at the 2011 Newspaper Awards for its “innovation and creativity” in a troubled market. This year is first time the Platinum Award has been presented.

At a separate award ceremony, The Independent’s Andrew Buncombe won the Amnesty International media award in the national newspaper category for a piece entitled “One woman’s silent quest for peace”.

Robert Fisk, The Independent’s Middle East correspondent, was nominated in the same category for a piece on honour killings entitled “The honour killing files”. The piece was the product of a 10-month investigation in Jordan, Pakistan, Egypt, Gaza and the West Bank.
