The right-wing columnists in killer's 'manifesto'

The television presenter Jeremy Clarkson and the Daily Mail columnist Melanie Phillips feature in the 1,500-page manifesto published online by the Norwegian gunman Anders Behring Breivik before he began his killing spree.

Ms Phillips is quoted several times. A piece on the Labour Party's immigration policy from 2009 is reprinted in its entirety. On immigration, she says: "It was a politically motivated attempt by ministers to transform the fundamental make-up and identity of this country. It was done to destroy the right of the British people to live in a society defined by a common history, religion, law, language and traditions." Mr Breivik also cited Ms Phillips' claims that the BBC rather than Rupert Murdoch's News International is the real threat to the UK media, because its world view was based on the idea that "traditional Christians are all fundamentalist bigots... opponents of mass immigration are racist".

Of Clarkson, he says: "Jeremy Clarkson heads the program Top Gear at the BBC, one of the funniest shows on TV. Since it has absolutely nothing to do with politics or religion, only with cars, it is one of the very few programmes at the Burka Broadcasting Corporation still worth seeing."

He repeats a comment by Clarkson about the flag of St George: "This is the only country in the world where the national flag is deemed offensive."
