THE British sense of humour is not dead, according to Steve Way, editor of the Cartoonist, which publishes its fifth issue this week. The circulation of the fortnightly publication is around the 40,000 mark and copies can be found as far away as the Orkneys. Mr Way says: 'Britain is increasingly hysterical, as everybody is under pressure, but the healthy, toilet humour is still intact.' Mr Way and the Cartoonist's publisher, John Sorrell, will be describing how the paper was set up at a meeting of the European Society for News Design at the Financial Times cinema next Wednesday, 2 June, at 7.30pm. Guest speakers include our own Michael Heath and Barry Fantoni. Further details: Andy Chappin, 071 873- 3328.
