THE OLDIE, Richard Ingrams's idiosyncratic magazine, is celebrating its first anniversary by defying the gravitational laws of recession: sales for the biweekly are running at a not-unimpressive 25,000, with 9,000 subscribers. Mr Ingrams predicts break-even within four to five months but is aiming for the 42,000 circulation achieved by the Spectator.
