The BBC's biggest salaries revealed

The BBC has revealed the names of its top stars that earn £150,000 or more for the first time, sparking outrage over the gender pay gap.

Director General Tony Hall admitted the corporation had a problem with around two thirds of the highest earners being men.

The BBC paid a total of 214 staff more than £150,000, giving most of them salaries above the £150,402 earned by Prime Minister Theresa May.

Ninety-six members of on-screen and on-air staff have now been identified after David Cameron put pressure on the corporation to increase transparency on pay during his time in office.
