WaterAid is a respected and influential organization that plays a leading role in the global water sector. At the World Bank, we are acutely aware of the importance of providing safe water and sanitation, particularly for the poor in the world's developing countries. We applaud the leadership that non-governmental organizations such as WaterAid are providing in reaching poor communities and giving them access to safe water.

Ismail Serageldin is Vice President of the World Bank, and Chairman of the Global Water Partnership.
