PAUL SYKES, the Euro-sceptic multi-millionaire, last night pledged to fund a nationwide campaign against Britain joining a single currency.

He already has staff in place and is planning to start his "awareness" campaign this autumn with a mailshot to householders and a video to councils and businesses.

Mr Sykes, who is estimated to have a fortune of pounds 250m and is among the 100 richest people in Britain, quit the Conservative Party last year after 27 years because it was not Euro-sceptic enough. Last night he said he would spend more than pounds 2m on the campaign.
