THOUSANDS OF jobs at Royal Ordnance factories have been secured by a 10-year partnership arrangement with the Ministry of Defence.

Peter Kilfoyle, Defence minister, said the pounds 1bn deal involved the supply of a wide range of ammunition products for Britain's armed forces. The contract follows successful negotiations between the MoD and BAe Systems, formerly British Aerospace, and will provide Royal Ordnance with a stable workload worth some pounds 100m per year.
