MOONLIGHTERS and double jobbers face an EU-led clampdown amid concern that almost 30 million people throughout Europe are hiding part or all of their income from the taxman. The biggest black economies are in Greece, Italy, Spain and Belgium, according to a strategy paper endorsed by the European Commission yesterday. In Britain the black economy is estimated to be worth over pounds 100bn annually, or up to 13 per cent of GDP, and is probably employing over 3 million people. - Katherine Butler, Brussels
