NHS needle scare

An NHS trust was fined pounds 15,000 because a baby was able to pick a used syringe out of a box during a hospital visit. The City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Trust admitted an offence underthe Health and Safety Act requiring establishments to ensure visitors' safety. The baby faces further tests to ensure she has not contracted a blood-borne infection.
