Detective John Bennett, who headed the Fred West murder inquiry, has arrived in Belgium to assist officers investigating a suspected child abuse ring, met the team working on the disappearance of a number of children and the deaths of two, believed to have starved to death.

No one has yet been charged in connection with the girls' deaths. But four people are in custody following last week's rescue of another two girls from a tiny cellar where they had been imprisoned and sexually abused. Louise Jury
