Schoolfriends of murdered teenager Caroline Dickinson may face renewed questioning today about the horrific sex killing during a trip to France, amid reports that a serial attacker could be involved. Five French detectives are in Launceston, Cornwall, to continue investigations into the month-old sex killing of the blonde 13-year-old, a pupil at the local community college.

West Country detectives are following up reports that a man tried to suffocate a 14-year-old Manchester schoolgirl in a French hostel three hours before Caroline was murdered 25 miles away. The chairman of Salford education committee, John Merry, confirmed yesterday that he had informed Devon and Cornwall police of "an incident" involving a Hope High School pupil on a trip to France.
