An executive of the company at the heart of a Euro 96 soccer-ticket scandal has been found dead in the Peak District five days after being sacked.
Roderick Cornes, 50, who was a project co-ordinator for the competition, fell to his death on Tuesday evening as he was climbing with a friend on a cliff at Beeston Tor, near Grindon, Staffordshire, the Daily Telegraph reports. Mr Cornes, who worked for Synchro Systems, the company responsible for printing and distributing tickets, had left the firm's employment on Friday.
Police said that Mr Cornes, an experienced climber, fell 120ft on to rocks as he attempted to abseil down the cliff-face. He was certified dead at the scene.
