I owe readers of Ally MacLeod's obituary [3 February] a sincere apology for claiming that Scotland lost 3-1 to Cuba rather than Peru in the 1978 World Cup, writes Alex Murphy. As any schoolboy knows, Cuba have not appeared at any World Cup finals since 1938.
