Stephen Cleobury's comprehensive obituary [27 November] did not mention, perhaps tactfully, the rivalry in George Guest's time between the St John's College Choir and that at King's College, writes John Norman. When the St John's College chapel organ acquired the famous Trompeta Real stop, George jokingly threatened Mark Fairhead, my late colleague at Hill Norman & Beard whose idea it had been, with unmentionable retribution if he should ever dare to add a similar stop to the organ in King's.
