I attended Dartington College of Arts and met the composer James Tenney [obituary by Keith Potter, 21 October] on a number of occasions when he was a visiting lecturer there between 1997 and 2000, writes David Llewellyn.
He was very good company, insisting on joining us youngsters in the student bar, rather than "hanging out", as it were, in the more sedate surroundings of Dartington Hall's White Hart Inn. For a man of 63 (I was shocked to find out his age!) he was also a very good dancer - and, it turned out, a big fan of James Brown.
