The Princess Royal opens Butterwick Hospice, Stockton on Tees, Co Durham, a new Community Resource Centre in Norton, Stockton on Tees, and, as President, the Missions to Seamen, the Flying Angel Club, Tees Dock, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire; and, as President, the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, visits Sedgefield Locality Carers Centre, Newton Aycliffe, Co Durham.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion Scots Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Scots Guards.
