Outrage, the gay rights group, also fired their opening salvo against the Church of England's synod yesterday. About a dozen members, demanding a "queer reformation", nailed four theses against "Church homophobia" to the doors of Westminster Abbey, writes Danny Penman.

Peter Tatchell, spokesman for Outrage, said the protest was designed to echo Martin Luther's nailing of the 95 theses against the Indulgences to the doors of a church in Wittenberg, Germany, in 1517, which began the Reformation.
