THE TORY leader, William Hague, will harden his stance on the single currency today when he sets out eight fundamental reasons for Britain to keep its own currency - moving closer to ruling out ever joining the euro.

Meanwhile Sir Leon Brittan, acting European trade commissioner, attacked the political deal under which Tony Blair agreed to back the Britain in Europe campaign, arguing that Labour should promote membership of the euro directly.
