Pensioners demand pounds 200m refund

Solicitors representing thousands of pensioners yesterday issued a High Court writ against the Government demanding repayment of an estimated pounds 200m taken from the National Bus Company pension scheme.

The challenge follows a long-running dispute over money taken from the pension scheme during privatisation.

If the case is successful, it is thought the final total payout could approach pounds 300m once interest has been taken into account.
