Amber Heard's friend defends her domestic violence allegations against Johnny Depp: 'I heard her scream'
Heard's friend also condemned the culture of victim blaming

Amber Heard’s friend iO Tillett Wright has defended Heard and has claimed she witnessed the injuries which Johnny Depp allegedly inflicted on her.
Wright, who is a gay rights activist and co-host of MTV show Suspect, claimed she was on the phone to Heard when her estranged husband, 52, hit her.
In a series of tweets, Wright criticised the “witch hunt” against the 30-year-old actress and the culture of victim blaming.
“I've had enough. I saw the bruises. Many times. And the fat lip. And the cut head,” she claimed.
"How much evidence does a woman need to present?! She has photos, texts, witnesses, and filed a restraining order."
“I was on the f****** phone when he hit her. I HEARD HER SCREAM. I will testify. Here and in court. Under oath. WHAT ELSE DOES A WOMAN NEED?” she later claimed.
Wright’s defence of Heard follows negative coverage of the actress in the media.
Heard filed for divorce from Depp on 23 May, citing irreconcilable differences. She requested Depp pay her legal fees and spousal support but Depp asked a judge to reject these requests.
Days later, Heard appeared in court with a visible bruise on her face to request a temporary restraining order against Depp, whom she alleged had been violent towards her on multiple occasions during their 15-month marriage. She alleged Depp threw an iPhone at her face last Saturday and a month before “grabbed [her] by the hair and violently shoved [her] to the floor”.
Depp’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, has claimed Heard decided to apply for a restraining order in response to the negative media coverage she’s recieved and in order to “secure a premature financial resolution”. The unfavourable media attention Wasser is referring to is the commentary surrounding Heard choosing to file for a divorce several days after Depp’s mother Betty Sue died.
Since then, Heard and Depp’s marriage has continued to dominate headlines. Last week, Heard released a lengthy statement via her lawyers which responded to the recent events that have unfolded.
In it, she said had not previously chosen to release a statement to the Los Angeles Police Department to protect her privacy and Depp’s career, revealing she had now released a full statement to the LAPD about the alleged domestic violence she has endured.
Depp has not made a public statement since the restraining order was issued but did release a comment in response to the news Heard was seeking spousal support and there was no prenuptial agreement in place.
“Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the malicious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life,“ the statement read.
“Hopefully, the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.“
Representatives for Depp and Heard did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
