Amy Schumer: Obama is my new boyfriend as he wants to stop gun violence
The comedian and actress is rallying support for the President’s gun control campaign
Amy Schumer has stepped up her support for President Barack Obama and his gun control campaign by posting pictures of him and calling him her “boyfriend”.
The comedian and actress has been a public supporter of Mr Obama’s campaign to tighten up gun laws following mass shootings in schools and community centres, and has used social media to rally positive support.
Ms Schumer attended the White House on Tuesday to show her support for the campaign, which has personally affected her. In July three people were gunned down at a screening of her film Trainwreck in Louisiana.
In the autumn of last year Ms Schumer also met with her cousin Senator Chuck Schumer to ask Congress for changes in gun legislation.
The actress has joked that Mr Obama is her new boyfriend, following reports on her real life new boyfriend furniture designer Ben Hanisch, as reported by US Weekly.
Mr Hanisch posted a photo on Instagram of himself and Ms Schumer, saying:“Sometimes in life you get extremely lucky, and the smartest, funniest, most beautiful woman comes along when you least expect it. Here's to what adventures 2016 brings!”
