Andrew Lesnie, the Oscar-winning cinematographer of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy died aged 59 after he suffered a heart attack.
Hailing from Sydney, Australia, he won an Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work on The Fellowship Of The Ring in 2002.
“We have been advised of the sudden death of Andrew,” a spokesperson from the Australian Cinematographers Society said by way of confirming the news.
An official statement from Lesnie’s family is expected to be made in due course.
He most recently worked on Russell Crowe’s new movie, The Water Diviner.
