CARE, a charity working in the poorest communities of the world, is holding 'Sportstrip', a fund-raising exhibition and auction of over 200 cartoons donated by various artists, on Thursday 8 October from 6pm, at the Mall Galleries, London SW1. Works by Charles Schulz, Purple Ronnie, Andy Capp, Mac, Jak, Chris Riddell and Ralph Steadman, amongst others, will be for sale, at prices from about pounds 40: a selection will be auctioned at 7.30pm. All of CARE's overseas projects are self-help in nature: promoting primary health-care, agriculture, environmental conservation and income generation. All money raised from 'Sportstrip' will be spent on delivering food to 1.8 million people in Somalia, at the moment devastated by drought and famine. In the last four months CARE has provided relief assistance to one million people in Mogadishu. For tickets, priced pounds 15, and further information, contact:

CARE, 36-38 Southampton Street, London WC2E 7HE, telephone 071-379 5247.
