Cope: the Laura Centre offers free confidential help to anyone affected by the death of a child. The centre provides individual, couple and family counselling with professional counsellors; a befriending network, staffed by bereaved parents who have adjusted to their loss; therapeutic support groups; a library; a quiet room for reflection; a Book of Remembrance; and support and consultation for anyone working in the area of bereavement. The centre is most often used by bereaved parents and siblings, but also provides a service to grandparents, friends, neighbours and professional staff; it needs pounds 100,000 each year to maintain the service.

Cope: the Laura Centre, 4 Tower Street, Leicester LE1 6WS, telephone 0533 544341.
