The David Lewis Centre, an assessment, treatment and care centre in Cheshire founded in 1904 for adults and children with epilepsy, is in the second year of an appeal to raise pounds 10m over five years. Funds raised will be spent on improving the centre's clinical services and support facilities for both residents and day patients with epilepsy and related disorders. About one in every 200 people in the UK suffers from epilepsy - it is as common as diabetes. The centre offers short- term accommodation for assessment and treatment, and a residential school for children and adolescents up to the age of 19.
