The Friends of St James' Mission & School is organising a sponsored walk from Bath, in Avon, to Netley Marsh, near Southampton, on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 July. The Rev George Biggs, of St Matthew's Church, Netley Marsh, will walk the 60 miles and individuals and businesses are asked to sponsor him. The charity is raising money for expensive water supply equipment at St James' School at Nymandhlovu, a rural boarding school in Matabeleland, Zimbabwe, in an effort to protect it from drought. The new project, costing pounds 30,000, will provide pumps, more storage tanks and a water reclamation system.
The Rev George Biggs, Netley Marsh Vicarage, Ringwood Road, Woodlands, Southampton SO4 2GX, telephone 0703 862124.
