Appeals: The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (Waggs)
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (Waggs) is appealing for help to deliver over 1.3 million 'peace packs', made and promised by girl guides and girl scouts from 31 countries. The project, which involves 128 national Waggs associations and is being jointly run with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), seeks to help over 10 million refugee children throughout the world. Typical packs contain a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, comb, notebook, pens, pencils, crayons and a small toy. The UNHCR has sent packs from Greece and Germany; but transport has yet to be found for packs from countries such as Finland (for Russia and Uganda), Japan (for Cambodia and Pakistan) and Italy (for Slovenia and Croatia).
