BB King enters home hospice care in Las Vegas
The 89-year-old guitarist has returned home after being hospitalised for dehydration linked to Type 2 diabetes
Blues legend BB King has entered hospice care at his home in Las Vegas.
The 89-year-old guitarist confirmed the news in a message on his official website, thanking fans for their will-wishes and prayers after he was hospitalised last week.
King was admitted to hospital on Thursday with dehydration after not eating, according to his daughter Patty King.
Paramedics said he may have suffered a minor heart attack, Patty told Las Vegas TV channel KLAS-TV.
King’s long-time business manager Laverne Toney, who has power of attorney over his affairs, said the musician had slept well and welcomed the concerns about his health.
The guitarist was also hospitalised in early April for dehydration caused by Type 2 diabetes.
King has lived with diabetes for over 20 years. In October, he cancelled the remaining shows of his 2014 tour after falling ill in Chicago with dehydration and exhaustion.
The musician, who was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, has released over 50 albums and is considered to be one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
He is best known for hits such as “Lucille”, “The Thrill is Gone” and “Blues Boys Tune”.
