Betty White joins Instagram at the age of 93, clocks up more than 76,000 followers in less than a day

Betty White may be 93-year-old, but she has proved that age is no barrier when it comes to the internet.

The Golden Girl joined Instagram on Thursday, posting a picture to celebrate the work of the Hot in Cleveland show, and the actress has already gained more than 76,000 followers in less than a day.

“For my first Instagram post I wanted to say how much I love these girls dearly. What a great time we had. #HOTFinale #Thanksforthelaughs,” White wrote when posting an image of her with Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Valeri Bertinelli drinking champagne.

The last episode of Hot In Cleveland aired this week after six years.

But the actress is not shy about reaching new audiences: in 2010 White appeared in a Snickers ad which aired during the Superbowl and quickly became one of the most-watched videos on YouTube at the time.

In 2010 it was revealed that white was publishing two books; one that covered love, sex and ageing, and one that looked at her life with as an animal welfare advocate, called 'The Zoo and I: Betty and her Friends.
