Boris Becker says he's 'proud' to be remembered for infamous Nobu 'romp'

The tennis player is happy to be associated with tennis and the broom-cupboard fling

Boris Becker has said he's happy to be remembered for his notorious sexual encounter at Nobu with waitress Angela Ermakowa.

The former tennis player told Radio Times that because the encounter produced his daughter, Anna, he was happy to be remembered for it.

The "romp" took place in upmarket sushi restaurant Nobu in 1999. Becker wouldn't admit paternity until Anna was 10 months old, as part of a £3.3 million paternity suit Ermakowa launched against Becker.

Becker previously described it as "the most expensive five seconds of my life".

"We were all stupid and not mature," he told Radio Times.

"Tennis wasn’t always easy, and my Wimbledon experience wasn’t always pleasant. My life was so much about me then. I was too self-centred.

"I’ve grown up, and I’m happy. My daughter Anna is one of the best things in my life... I’m very proud of my daughter."

The publication asked how he felt about being most associated with the three words tennis, Wimbledon and Nobu. Becker answered: "Those three words... Nothing wrong with them.

"If that’s what I’m remembered for, then I’m proud."
